PROJECT OF THE WEEK

One of the things I love most about my work is that I don't just get to work with kids. I get to work with parents, too.

Of course, I enjoy helping students build skills, confidence, and independence. But over the years, I've learned that some of the most meaningful changes happen when parents make small shifts in how they respond, communicate, and lead at home.

Parent coaching isn't about becoming a perfect parent. It's about learning to lead by example, set the tone, hold healthy boundaries, offer support, and avoid getting pulled into every piece of drama that comes your way.

That sounds simple, but it can be incredibly powerful.

I've watched parents make small but meaningful changes and then begin to see changes in their children that they had hoped for for years. Sometimes even decades.

The child who takes on more responsibility.

The teenager who starts communicating more openly.

The young adult who begins making better decisions.

Not because someone forced the change, but because the environment around them changed.

Getting started

One of the hardest parts of parenting is allowing children to learn their own lessons. We naturally want to protect them from mistakes, disappointments, and consequences. But growth often happens when we provide support without rescuing, guidance without controlling, and boundaries without constant battles.

The changes rarely happen overnight. In fact, they often happen so gradually that you don't notice them at first.

And then one day, a parent shares a story about something their child did, and you both realize that something important has shifted.

Those moments are my favorite.

Because they remind me that lasting change often starts with the adults in the room. When parents change the way they show up, children often find new ways to grow.

And sometimes the results are even better than anyone imagined.

Tired of being the homework manager?

One of the goals of parent coaching is helping parents step out of the role of constant reminder and helping students step into greater independence.

The Student Weekly Planning Checklist Notepad gives students a simple system for tracking assignments, planning their week, and following through on commitments.

A Note from Happy Spaces

Our goal is simple: to add value to your life. If you think this project will be helpful, here are some steps to set yourself up for success:

  • Estimate how long it will take—then double it. Giving yourself extra time helps reduce stress.

  • Schedule it on your calendar for the week ahead. Setting a specific date increases follow-through.

  • Break it up if it will take more than an hour. Tackling it in smaller steps makes it more manageable.

  • Make a list of every action needed before you start. A clear plan helps keep you on track.

  • Do what works for you—you don’t have to complete every part, just what adds value to your life.

  • Find an Accountability Partner—having support makes it easier to stay committed.

We understand that building new habits and systems can be challenging, but you don’t have to do it alone. For additional support, visit HappySpacesBySarah.com and let’s make organizing and planning easier together.

Creating a life you don't need a vacation from! ®

Sincerely,

Sarah Weingarten

Meet Sarah

As the oldest of nine kids with two working parents, I grew up juggling many responsibilities at home. Organization and time management became my lifeline amidst the chaos.

I attended the Cornell Hotel School and pursued my childhood dream of working in the hospitality industry. In 2016, I launched Happy Spaces, combining my passion for structure and efficiency with helping others.

I love working with students to develop essential organizational, time management, and study skills. These skills empower them to reach their full potential, build confidence, and create a future they feel good about.
